Antigua and Barbuda is an independent Commonwealth country comprising its 2 namesake islands and several smaller ones. The population of Antigua and Barbuda is 97,118 with the capital being St John’s.

Antigua and Barbuda have a high solar potential and set a renewable energy mix target of 15% by 2030. Presently Antigua’s energy mix is comprised of only 3.5% renewable energy. Its electrical demand peaks at 61MW and its electricity prices are high relative to the rest of the Caribbean.

​

​Solar energy generation presents an opportunity to achieve Antigua and Barbuda’s energy goals, lower the cost of electricity, reduce its carbon footprint and reduce its annual dependence on about 77,000,000 liters of imported diesel fuel and oil for electricity alone.
