Grenada is a Caribbean country comprising a main island, also called Grenada, and smaller surrounding islands. Dubbed the “Spice Isle,” the hilly main island is home to numerous nutmeg plantations. The population of the Grenada is 112,003 with the capital being Saint George’s.

 

Grenada has a high solar potential and set a renewable energy mix target of 100% by 2030. Presently Grenada’s energy mix is comprised of just 1.5% renewable energy on the public grid. Its electrical demand peaks at 33MW and its electricity prices are high relative to the rest of the Caribbean.

​Solar energy generation presents an opportunity to achieve Grenada’s energy goals, lower the cost of electricity, reduce its carbon footprint and reduce its annual dependence on about 47,947,000 liters of imported diesel for electricity alone.
