Barbados is an eastern Caribbean island and an independent British Commonwealth nation. Bridgetown, is a common cruise-ship port of call with colonial buildings and Nidhe Israel, a synagogue founded in 1654. The population of Barbados is 287,025

with the capital being Bridgetown.

 

Barbados has a high solar potential and set a renewable energy mix target of 100% by 2030. Presently Barbados’ energy mix is comprised of only 5% renewable energy. Its electrical demand peaks at 153MW and its electricity prices are moderately high relative to the rest of the Caribbean.

Solar energy generation presents an opportunity to achieve Barbados energy goals, lower the cost of electricity, reduce its carbon footprint and reduce its annual dependence on about 201,130,000 liters of oil and diesel for electricity alone.
